STORAGE
Draining the Fuel System
You can avoid fuel deterioration
problems by draining the fuel tank
and carburetor.
1.
Disconnect the fuel hose from the
outboard motor.
2.
Disconnect the drain tube from the
air guide, then connect it to the
carburetor drain port as shown.

With the outboard motor in a
vertical position, place an
approved gasoline container below
the fuel drain outlet, and use a
funnel to avoid spilling fuel.
Loosen the drain screw to drain
fuel from the carburetor.
Gasoline is highly
flammable and explosive.
AIR GUIDE
You can be burned or
seriously injured when
handling fuel.
Stop the engine and keep
heat, sparks, and flame
away.
Handle fuel only
outdoors.
DRAIN
Wipe up spills
TUBE
immediately.
4.
After the fuel has drained from the
carburetor, tighten the drain screw
securely.
5.
Reconnect the drain tube to the air
guide.
6.
Drain the fuel tank into an
approved gasoline container, or if
you need to store fuel in the fuel
tank, you can extend fuel storage
life by filling the fuel tank with
fresh gasoline and adding Honda
Marine fuel stabilizer following
the directions on the container.
Close the fuel cap vent.
If using the portable fuel tank,
close the fuel filler cap vent knob.
Store the portable fuel tank in a
cool dry place out of direct
sunlight.
