The
brake
fluid
level
must
be
checked
regularly.

Maintenance
Schedule
folder
for other
brake
checks.
If
the
light
comes
on
and sta
ys
on
when
the ignition
key
is
on,
after
the
brake
pedal
has
been firmly
pushed
down, it
may
mean that there
is something
wrong
wit'h
one
part
of the
brake system.

Pull off the road and stop carefully.
And
remember that:
Stopping
distances
may be
longer.
You
ma
y
have
to
push
harder on
the
pedal.

pedal
may go
down farther {han
normal.

Tryout the
brakes
by
starring
and stopping on
the
road shoulder--then
:
If you judge it
to
be
safe,
drive cautiously
at a safe
speed to the
neatest
dealer
for
repair, or
Have
vehicle towed
to
dealer for
repair.
Continued dri ving without
getting
necessary
repairs
could
be
dangerous.
"EMISSIONS" INDICATOR
On
some
cars,
the word "EMISSIONS" is designed
to
appear in
a window
in
the
speedometer faceat certain
int
~
rval
s
.
This
is a
reminder
that maintenance
service
must
be
performed on your
car.
One
of two
types
'
of service
is
required:
On cars
equipped with
the
C-4
System, the
oxygen sensor
must be
replaced
with
·
a new
sensor,
or
On
cars
without
the
C-4 System,
the
catalyst
in
the catalytic
converter must
be
changed.
In
either
case,
see
your
C
h
l!~
rol
e
t
dealer
for
service when
the
"EMISSIONS"
ind
icator appears.

"CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT
If
your
ca
r has the C-4 Syst
em, a
"CHECK
ENG INE"
light
on the instrument
panel
is
designed
to
come on
during
engine starting
to
let you know
the
bulb
is
workin
g.
(The
light
will
slay
on
a
short
time
after
the engine
starts.)
If
the
light
comes
on
while
driving,
service
to
the
emission
control system
may
be required.

as
soon

possible for an inspection of the
system.
COlltinued driving without
having
[he C-4System serviced could eventually
ca use
damage to
the
emission
control system.
It
could
also
affect
fuel economy
and
drivability.
