9. PRECAUTIONS IN DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY
Precautions on operation are given in the instruction manual; the followings are special precautions on
disassembly, reassembly and repair.
When tightening a tapping screw, align the holes on both sides.
The [Bold] numbers in the descriptions below correspond to the item numbers in the Parts List and the exploded
assembly diagram for the Model SB 8V2.
CAUTION: Be sure that the plug is disconnected from the power source during disassembly, reassembly
and sanding belt replacement.
9-1. Disassembly
(1) Removal of Belt Tensioner (A) [52] and the Idle Pulley Ass'y [39] (Fig. 1)
(a) After removing the sanding belt, return the lever to its original position and loosen two Machine Screw
M4 x 14 [51]. And then pull out Belt Tensioner (A) [52].
(b) After taking out the Retaining Ring for D10 Shaft [48] and removing Shaft (B) [49], remove the Idle Pulley
Ass'y [39].

(2) Removal of Pulley (B) [54], Gear [60], Drive Pulley [65] and Dust Cover [16] (Fig. 2)
(a) Loosen each one of the Machine Screw (W/Washers) M4 x 12 (Black) [8] and the Tapping Screw
(W/Flange) D4 x 30 (Black) [40]. Then remove the Belt Cover [14].
(b) Remove the Belt [53].
(c) Loosen three Machine Screws M4 x 14 [51] and remove the Gear Cover [55] with Pulley (B) [54], Ball
Bearing 6200VVCMPS2L [56] and Pinion [57].
(d) Hold the Pinion [57] with a vice with care not to damage it, and turn Pulley (B) [54] in a counterclockwise
direction with a wrench.
