SPECIAL FEATURES _____________________________________________________________________________ Your PORSCHE car radio is designed to receive RDS signals on the FM Band. - RDS (Radio Broadcast Data System) allows the radio station to broadcast the abbreviated name of the station, as well as program type (PTY CODE), time, and a tone indicatingTraffic Program (TP).

Example: CODE 1530 (Preassigned to each radio and supplied to the owner on the PORSCHE RADIO CODE CARD) is entered by pressing the multifunction keys in sequence. (See diagram.) After the first digit is entered, the word "CODE" disappears and the number is displayed followed by three dashes.
ANTITHEFT SYSTEM ______________________________________________________________________________ If you have entered an incorrect code, the word "CODE" reappears in the display. The system allows two more attempts for a total of three. After three incorrect attempts, "WAIT" is displayed. A ten-minute time interval must lapse before you can attempt the coding process.
GENERAL OPERATION ______________________________________________________________________________ ON/OFF Push the ON button to turn the radio on. Push the button again to turn it off. The radio will play for up to one hour with the ignition switch in the off position. If the radio is switched on by the ON button and the vehicle is started, the radio will turn off with the ignition switch.

GENERAL OPERATION ______________________________________________________________________________ Fader Press either multifunction key under "( F v )" to access the Fader Control. The display shows "FAD" as well as the current setting. To increase the output to the front speakers press the " " key or " v" to increase the output to the rear speakers.
RADIO RECEPTION ______________________________________________________________________________ General Information RDS - System This radio is designed to receive RDS signals in the FM Band. RDS is short for "Radio Broadcast Data System", used to supply additional information to your radio. The radio station determines the information available.
RADIO RECEPTION ______________________________________________________________________________ Source Selection The S button selects the operating mode: AM, FM, CD, or CD Changer (only if a CD changer is connected). Press the S button repeatedly until the desired source is selected. The operation mode appears on the left side of the display. The radio will switch between the last two modes used.
RADIO RECEPTION ____________________________________________________________________________ Station Selection The radio incorporates several options for selecting programs or stations: Automatic Station tuning Scan tuning Manual tuning Direct frequency input Preset station recall keys Autostore Automatic Tuning To tune to the next station in ascending or descending order, press the upper or lower side of the automatic switch respectively.
RADIO RECEPTION ______________________________________________________________________________ Radio Menu Mode The radio menu mode is activated by pressing the multifunction key " * ". If no choice is made within eight seconds, the radio will return to the station recall key menu. Program Type (PTY) Display/Search If an FM Station is broadcasting RDS and the Program Type function, the radio will display the program type of the station selected.
RADIO RECEPTION ___________________________________________________________________________ SCAN Tuning The scan tuning function works for AM and FM. Press and hold the automatic switch for 2 or more seconds and scan tuning will start. Press and hold the upper or lower side of the automatic switch to start the scan function in ascending or descending order respectively.
RADIO RECEPTION ______________________________________________________________________________ Manual Tuning AM While tuned to an AM station, press the multifunction Key " * " to access the second level menu. Once the second level menu appears, use the automatic switch to manually tune to a desired station.
RADIO RECEPTION ___________________________________________________________________________ Station Recall Keys FM The radio has 24 memory positions available for FM. Each of the station recall keys, (1...8), can store 3 different stations. Press the key once to recall the first stored station, twice for the second, and three times for the third.
RADIO RECEPTION _____________________________________________________________________________ Traffic Program (TP) Traffic program is another function of the RDS system. When in the FM band and tuned to a station that broadcasts the TP signal and indicator, the radio can be set to interrupt CD playback when a traffic announcement is broadcast.
RADIO RECEPTION ___________________________________________________________________________ Muting during Car Telephone Calls If your car telephone and radio are connected with the proper mute line, the audio will be muted and the display will show "PHONE". During the call, the radio will not accept any commands.
COMPACT DISC OPERATION _____________________________________________________________________________ Playing a CD Slide a CD, with label side up, slowly through the slot until the player draws it in and the display shows "LOADING". The radio switches automatically to CD, and begins to play track 1. The display shows "CD TRACK 1"...
COMPACT DISC OPERATION _________________________________________________________ Title Search Forward/Reverse To advance to the next track on the same CD, press the top of the automatic switch. The title currently playing will mute, the audio will return when the changer has located the title you requested. To advance several tracks, press the automatic switch repeatedly.
COMPACT DISC OPERATION _____________________________________________________________________________ Display of Elapsed Time Press the multifunction key under "T" to display the elapsed time for the current track. Press the multifunction key "T" a second time, (within eight seconds of the first) and it will display the total number of tracks and total playback time.
CD-CHANGER OPERATION ___________________________________________________________________________ Set Up If a CD Changer is installed, it will be ready for use as soon as a magazine containing CDs is inserted into the changer. Install the magazine with the loading side to the right. After installing the magazine, close the door and the unit will be ready to play.
CD-CHANGER OPERATION _____________________________________________________________________________ Playing of CD's To access the CD changer, press the S button repeatedly until "CD 1..." appears in the display. Once the CD Changer function is chosen, you will have the choice of which disc to play. Choose a disc by pressing a multifunction key below "+"...
USER MENU SELECTIONS _________________________________________________________ User Menu The user menu allows the choice of contrast and CD Changer type. To access the User Menu, turn the radio on and immediately press and hold the multifunction key "*" for more than 2 seconds. The User Menu can only be accessed during the first eight seconds of operation.
INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS _____________________________________________________________________________ Installation Remove frame A from the radio by depressing the spring clips and sliding the frame off the rear of the radio. Slide frame A completely into instrument panel cut-out B until the frame is flush on all sides. Bend locking tabs C outward to hold the frame securely in place.
