Threading

• Thread machine wtih the presser foot up (to release the tension discs)
• Thread the machine using either the horizontal or vertical spool pin
- Horizontal spool pin is designed for use with cross-wound threads
- match disc size to end of spool
- smallest disc fits into the end of large cones/spools such as Isacord embroidery thread
- Vertical spool pin is designed for use with stacked threads
- also used for some decorative threads
- a supplemental thread guide is available and should be used when using the vertical spool
pin to help decorative threads reel off the spool more consistently and keep them from falling
off the spool
• Adjust tensions as needed for the threads used
Hoop Sizes

• artista checks the hoop size when an embroidery motif is selected
• If possible, always select a hoop size that most closely matches the motif size
- Large hoop (200mm x 155mm)
- stitch area is approximately 7
- Medium hoop (optional accessory) (130mm x 100mm)
- stitch area is approximately 5
- Small hoop (40mm x 60mm)
- for use with free arm embroidery and when stitching small designs
- stitch area is approximately 1

• Lightweight Tear-Away Stabilizers
- most widely used in the home embroidery market
- available in black and white
- tears away easily; pull gently and hold stitches to prevent distortion
- can be used in multiple layers
- does not provide support for stitches after removal due to extreme perforation from the needle
• Cut-Away Stabilizers
- most widely used in commercial embroidery market
- available in black and white
- must be cut away from the ack of emroidery after stitching is complete
- provides permanent support for embroidery stitches
- no "give" or stretch
- use with farics that have stretch
- use with embroidery designs with high stitch counts
- can be used in multiple layers
