To simplify the PTV convergence procedure, a Kit with
a special hand control may be purchased. Refer to the
back page of this Service Manual for more
information.
GM - PROJO CONVERGENCE SETUP PROCEDURE
Step 1: W arm-up TV set for at least 15 minutes.
1. Read entire procedure while set is warming up.
Note: G-2 setup and video mute jumpers are on the
rear left corner of the main module. G-2 and
Focus controls are located inside the back of the
projo behind the blue CRT. Vertical and
horizontal size controls are located on the front
of the power supply/deflection module.
Step 2: G-2 Setup
1. Place G-2 Setup jumper (SW1) to setup position.
2. Set G-2 control for the Green CRT by turning control
clockwise until vertical retrace lines are just visible.
Repeat procedure for red and blue.
Note: Make Sure that there is no direct light on screen
or bright light present while adjusting G-2
controls.
3. Place SW1 to normal position.
Step 3: Focus Adjustment
1. Connect a pattern generator (or VCR with signal
pattern tape part# 892-53) to video inputs on set.

2. Set pattern generator display to a hatch or
mono-scope pattern.
3. Adjust brightness and contrast, on the Customer
Video Menu, to lowest level that allows you to view
entire pattern.
4. Adjust mechanical and electrical focus as needed.
Note: The area of interest while doing mechanical
focus is the center of the screen. The areas of
interest while doing electrical focus are mid
points of the display (midway between center
to edge on the top, bottom, and both sides).
Step 4: Customer Convergence Controls
1. Using customer convergence controls, adjust
vertical and horizontal RED and BLUE static
convergence controls to the center of their +/-
range.
Step 5: Setup Yoke Tilt and Center Screen
1. Select cross hair pattern on the generator.
2. Press and hold MENU on remote until customer
menu display disappears. Then press "999 ENTER".
Geometry convergence display will appear.
3. Press PIP for TRK4000 or FREEZE for MBR remote
to disable convergence. Screen should now say
Geometry MUTE.
