Near – the "Near" unit is the one that you are logged into
Far – The "Far" unit is that on the other side of the link whose information can be gathered over
the link and displayed on the user interface of the near unit.
IDU Alarm – indicates a basic malfunction of the IDU. The near unit's IDU Alarm should be green
at all times.
ODU Alarm – indicates an improper connection between the ODU and IDU or an IDU
malfunction.
Demod Lock – Indicates that the link is not working. The baseband demodulator is not locking on
the other unit.
Tx Power – Indicates the ODU output power in dBm.
RSSI – is the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and shows the strength of the incoming
signal in dBm.

Link Status
The management screens are accessed via tabs arranged horizontally in the upper portion of each
screen. The basic status of the link is summarized in the Status screen (Figure 6-3) as shown below.
