4. STARTING THE ENGINE

Before starting the engine:
Step 1
. Turn the fuel tap to ON position.
Step 2.
Move the throttle lever down to start position - tighten knob.
Step 3
. Pull starter grip until resistance is felt. (Electric start models not required).
Step 4.
Push decompression lever down. (Lever will return back automatically after
engine started).
Step 5
. Pull the starter grip firmly. Turn on ignition switch fully (Electric start models).

Do not allow the starter grip to snap back, Return it slowly by hand.

Step 6.
Move the throttle lever to the desired engine speed position - tighten knob.
Discharge flow is controlled by adjusting the engine speed. Increasing engine speed will increase
discharge flow. Slowing the engine speed will decrease discharge flow.
For safety, never pump flammable or corrosive liquids such as petrol or acid. To avoid pump
corrosion never pump sea water, chemical solutions, caustic liquids eg. used oil, wine or milk.
If the engine stops and will not restart, check the engine oil level and fuel tank level before further
troubleshooting.
Low Oil Alert System
The low oil alert system is designed to prevent engine damage caused by an insufficient amount
of oil in the crankcase. Before the oil level in the crankcase falls below a safe limit, the low oil alert
system will automatically shut down the engine, even when the engine switch is in the ON position.
If the low oil alert system shuts down the engine, check the oil level and add the recommended
engine oil.
