Canadian

Duplex
Transmit and receive on different frequencies.
Encryption
Scrambled audio for extra privacy.
FM
Frequency Modulation.
International
Channel designations as defined for use in international waters by the

International Telecommunications Union (ITU).
Special channels reserved for marinas located in selected European

countries. These channels are pre-programmed in the transceiver as

P1 and P2.
Channels which are assigned by regulatory agencies governing VHF
Private
radio use for a specific region or country. These channels are prefixed

with a "P" and can only be programmed into the transceiver by
authorised dealers.
PTT
Press To Talk (Transmit).
RX
Receive.
Simplex
Transmit and receive on the same frequency.
Squelch
To suppress background noise.
TX
Transmit.
Transceiver
A device that can transmit and receive.

VOX
Voice Operated Transmit.
VHF
Very High Frequency (30MHz to 300 MHz).
