Two-door refrigerators featuring a freezer compartment are known as “dual-temperature” or “top freezers”. In these refrigerators, the evaporator consists of two sections: one evaporator in the freezer compartment, and a second evaporator in the refrigerator compartment. 1.1 Evaporator in freezer compartment This evaporator consists of an aluminium tube which is wound in a spiral form around a second surface in pre- painted aluminium, which forms the freezer cell.
The evaporator tubes are cold, which means that, if they were to come into contact with the cell, this would cause the formation of condensation or even ice inside the refrigerator. For this reason, spacers (4) are used to prevent contact with the cell. As in all circuits of this type, an accumulator (3) is fitted.
2. Combi bottom 2.1 Static version The static version consists of a freezer compartment in the lower section and a refrigerator compartment in the upper section. The static version features a ROLL-BOND evaporator (2) embedded in polystyrene foam on the cabinet and secured by adhesive to the cell.
The combined No-frost version consists of a NO-FROST evaporator battery (1) and the refrigrator evaporator (4). The evaporator is the same as that fitted to the dual-temperature refrigerator, i.e. an aluminium tube fitted to a pre-painted aluminium plate. The plate (2) secures the thermostat bulb in position. The position of the plate varies according to the model, the dimensions of the evaporator and the optimum thermostat setting.
3. Refrigerator (cooler) The structure of the refrigerator-only appliance consists of a ROLL-BOND evaporator plate (1); the thermostat bulb is located in position (2). The position of the housing varies according to the model, the dimensions of the evaporator and the optimum thermostat setting.
