If your deep fryer does not work properly

Problem and possible causes
Deep fryer does not work
• The fryer is not plugged in.
• The thermostat is not lit
(depending on model).
• The bowl is the wrong way
around.
• The on/off switch is not set to "I".
Unpleasant odors
• The anti-odor filter is satured.
• The oil has deteriorated.
• Unsuitable oil has been used.
Steam escapes from around the lid
• The lid is not closed properly.
• The seal is defective.
Overflow of frying oil
• The anti-odor filter is saturated.
• The Max. oil filling mark of the
bowl has been exceeded.
• The basket is malfunctioning.
• Mixture of different oils.
• Oil emulsifies violently, the food is
wet or covered with ice (frozen
food).
Foods does not become golden
• Pieces of foods too thick and
contain a lot of water / ice.
• Too much food is being cooked at
the same time and the cooking oil
is no longer at the right
temperature.
• The frying oil temperature may
not be high enough; the
thermostat is set incorrectly
(depending on model).
The timer no longer works (depending on model)
• The battery is worn.
If the problem persist, check with T-Fal customer service
Any repairs must only be carried out by an approved Servicing Centre with
the manufacturer's own replacement parts.

Solutions
• Check that the cord is correctly
plugged in.
• Set the thermostat to the required
temperature and check that the
temperature ready light goes on.
• Replace the bowl the right way around
(with the Min./Max. markers towards
the back of the fryer).
• Set the on/off switch to "I".
• Replace the anti-odor filter (see page 7).
• Renew the frying oil (maximum 8 to 12
uses).
• Use a vegetable oil for top-quality
frying.
• Check that the lid is properly attached
to the fryer and locked.
• Contact T-Fal Service Centre.
• Change the filter (see page 7).
• Check the oil level (Max.), and remove
the excess.
• Check that the basket is not overfilled.
• Change your basket.
• Empty and clean the bowl. Refill the
bowl with only one type of oil.
• Remove the particles of ice from
frozen foods and dry the foods
thoroughly OR lower the basket very
slowly.
• As a test, try a longer cooking time.
• Fry foods in small quantities*, wait for
the temperature ready light to go off
before plunging the following batch of
food. (*particulary frozen foods).
• Set the thermostat to the
recommended temperature
(depending on model).
• Have it replaced by an approved T-Fal
Service Centre.
