Glossary
composite audio/video—An audio/video transmission type that
provides improved video quality over RF coaxial. Can be used
instead of RF coaxial in setups that use a cable or satellite set-top
box. A composite audio/video cable is provided.
Digital Video Recorder—See TV tuner.
ExpressCard—An ExpressCard is a next-generation,
high-performance PC Card that must be inserted in the
ExpressCard slot. An ExpressCard can add TV tuner
functionality to the computer.
infrared (IR) lens—A device on your set-top box that receives
infrared signals from your remote.
Media Center—A version of the Microsoft Windows XP
operating system that is enhanced for home entertainment. Used
with the TV tuner to enable you to watch and record television on
your computer.
remote sensor—Connects to the USB port on the computer.
When connected, you can change channels using the Media
Center Remote Control.
RF coaxial—An audio/video transmission type that provides
standard video quality. RF coaxial cables are used to connect
your TV source to the TV tuner.
set-top box—A device that enables your television to receive
cable or satellite broadcasts. In your Media Center setup, the
set-top box is connected to the TV tuner to enable your computer
to receive cable or satellite broadcasts. Set-top boxes are provided
by your cable or satellite service.
