In addition, there are program types, ALARM and TEST,
used for exceptional emergency announcements. The tuner will
switch automatically to that station if it picks up either of these
RDS signals.

Displaying RDS information

You can choose to display Program Service name (PS), Program
Type (PTY), or Radio Text (RT) for the FM station you're
listening to.

Press DISP (DISP/RDS on the front panel) to
select the RDS function.
Press repeatedly to choose between:
Station frecuency
RT (Radio Text )
PS (Program Service)
PTY (Program Type)
PTY SEARCH
(Program Type search)
Tape counter *
Current time
* Tape counter display only appears while tape recording.
After about 5 seconds the RDS information will be displayed.
Note
• The RDS indicator will light in the RDS mode.
• If no RDS signal can be received, the
will be displayed.
• If there is noise during the RT scroll display when in the RT
mode, some characters may be temporarily displayed
incorrectly.
• In the RT mode, when no RT data is transmitted,
is displayed.
• During RDS broadcast reception in the PTY mode,
data may be displayed. In this case, it will automati-

cally switch to PS mode after a few seconds.

Searching for a program type

You can search for a station that is broadcasting any program
type from the list on page 18–19.

Select FM with the TUNER button.

Press DISP (DISP/RDS on the front panel)
repeatedly to select PTY SEARCH.
Use – · 4 and ¢ · + (remote) or the JOG dial

(front panel) to choose the program type.

Press DISP(/RDS) to start the search.
The system starts searching through the station presets for a
match. When it finds one, the search stops and the station plays
for 5 seconds.

If you want to keep listening to the station,
press DISP(/RDS) within the 5 seconds.
If you don't press DISP(/RDS), searching resumes.
