SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
In order to use this product correctly, read these instructions carefully. Please keep instructions for
future reference.
BEFORE USE
1. Make sure the unit is secured properly on the desk by the suction cap.
2. Insert plug into socket and switch on.
HOW TO USE
1. Select lead sharpness by lead adjuster (turn to the left = sharp – turn to the right = blunt).
2. Insert pencil into aperture.
3. When the pencil is sharpened, motor automatically stops.
4. How to use jam release button (fig.2):
When lead is broken or a short pencil is stuck in the aperture, please use this button as follows:
a) Remove chip tray and discard all shavings.
b) Replace chip tray.
c) Hold the unit firmly and push the jam release button, as motor starts working and jammed lead
or pencil falls out.
WARNING
- Hazardous moving parts, keep fingers and body parts away.
- The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
CAUTION
1. Do not sharpen too many pencils without a break. When a pencil is inserted do not push the
pencil until the pencil cannot be sharpened, as the motor will keep rotating. This machine will
sharpen up to 50-60 pencils when, for safety purposes, a thermo stat cuts in and cuts off the
power supply. If this happens, pull the pencil out of the sharpener and leave the unit for a few
minutes to cool down.
2. f the unit does not work for any other reason, please do no disassemble, consult the DESQ
International Service Department.
3. If soft leaded pencils are used the lead may break and get stuck. To release, use the jam
release button.
4. Please use suitable voltage – 220/240V.
5. Make sure you insert the chip tray properly as this operates the micro safety switch.
CLEANING
To clean, turn off power, remove the plug and wipe with a damp sort cloth. DO NOT use any
cleaning chemicals.
NOTES
Please take notice of the following points:
a) Keep the machine clean
b) Any maintenance, turn off the power supply and remove the plug.
c) DO NOT insert fingers into the pencil aperture or area if chip tray is removed.
d) Do not modify in any way, this will invalidate the guarantee.
e) Do not place any objects on top of the unit.
f) Only use to sharpen pencils.
g) Keep the unit dry.
