PREPARING FOR FIRST TIME USE

Clean Collector/Dispenser Bottle
• Ensure the dispensing valve (fi g. B) is installed and tightened.
• Fill bottle approximately three fourths full with tap water.
• Add one or two drops of dish detergent.
• DO NOT install fi lter cup at this time.
• Seal bottle opening with cap.
• Shake vigorously and drain.
• Rinse thoroughly.
Sanitize Collector/Dispenser Bottle
• Add 6 ounces (180 ml) of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to bottle.
• Fill with hot distilled or tap water.
• DO NOT install the fi lter cup at this time.
• Seal bottle opening with cap.
• Shake vigorously and let stand for 20 minutes.
• Drain and rinse thoroughly.
Sterilize and Rinse Carbon Filter Cup
Before installing, fully immerse new fi lter cup in distilled water for about
fi ve minutes. Then sterilize fi lter cup by fully immersing in boiling water
for about fi ve minutes. Allow fi lter to cool before handling. Pour 1 to 2
cups distilled water through fi lter cup to rinse away any small, harmless
carbon fi nes (dust). Water draining from the fi lter cup may contain black
dust. This is typical. The carbon dust is formed as a result of production,
packaging and shipping of fi lter cup.

Install Filter Cup
Place sterilized fi lter cup into opening
of collector/dispenser bottle. There is
a label packed with replacement fi lter
cups. Write in installation date as a
replacement reminder.
Replace Filter Cup
The fi lter cup should be replaced
every two months or after 60-80
gallons of water processed (which-
ever comes fi rst). Replace more often
should the distilled water begin to
have an unwanted taste or odor.
Discard fi rst gallon of distilled water
as it may contain small, harmless
carbon fi nes. Order replacement fi lters
from the outlet where you purchased
your distiller.
