Software Requirements
• ActiveSync (v4.5 or higher) or Windows Mobile Device Center installed and configured on the
host workstation (PC).
• Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows NT (4.0 SP6 or higher),
Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems.
Setting Up the Host Workstation
To synchronize data between the terminal and the workstation, ActiveSync (v4.5 or higher) or Windows
Mobile Device Center must be configured for the same communication type on both the host workstation
and the Dolphin terminal.
ActiveSync
1. Open ActiveSync on your workstation, select File > Connection Settings.
2. Verify the box next to "Allow USB connections" is checked.
Windows Mobile Device Center
1. Open WMDC on your workstation, select Mobile Device Settings > Connection Settings.
2. Verify the box next to "Allow USB connections" is checked.
Connecting the Dolphin Terminal to the Host Workstation
Note: ActiveSync or WMDC must be installed and setup on your workstation before you initiate synchronization
from the terminal for the first time.
After setting up the host workstation:
1. Connect the Dolphin terminal to the workstation using a Dolphin communication peripheral (e.g.,
HomeBase with USB cable or USB charge/communication cable).
2. ActiveSync or WMDC should open and connect automatically to the Dolphin terminal.
3. Once the connection is established, you are given the option to either:
a. set up synchronization of data between the workstation and terminal, or
b. connect to the workstation without setting up the device for automatic synchronization.
Synchronizing with the Host Workstation
After you setup data synchronization between the terminal and workstation using ActiveSync or WMDC,
automatic synchronization of data begins anytime you connect the terminal to the workstation via the
HomeBase USB connection or the USB charge/communication cable. For additional information on

Note: If you are having trouble connecting and synchronizing your terminal with a workstation PC using a wired USB
connection and ActiveSync or WDMC, try enabling the advanced network functionality setting under
Settings > Connections > USB to PC on the terminal.
