MAINTENANCE & CARE Always remove the power supply plug from the socket before carrying out any work on the machine. The cool air openings in the motor casing must always be kept clean and unobstruct- ed to ensure air circulation. With the exception of carbon brush replacement (see instruction manual), all main- tenance and repair work which requires the motor casing to be opened may only be carried out by an authorized service center. TIPS FROM THE PROS IMPROVEMENT & MAINTENANCE OF GLOSS Shurhold offers the various compound and premium buffing pads necessary to get the job done. Use of an aggressive pad and compound may remove severe damage, but the high gloss shine must be achieved with further polishing. A step-by-step process of aggressive to mild pads and compounds will get the professional results you demand. When the surface still looks new, use of mild compounds and pads is all that is necessary to maintain that new vehicle shine. Polish your boat, car or other vehicle 2-3 times a year to protect its surface and shine. For more information visit www.shurhold.com. REMOVAL OF DEFECTS IN PAINT & GEL COAT OXIDATION Your Shurhold Dual Action Polisher is the perfect tool for removing minor defects in paint and gel coat. Defects such as scratches, oxidation, scuffs, chemical etching, swirl and sanding marks, can be repaired during polishing with the proper pads and compounds. Great attention must be paid to the amount of paint, clear coat and/or clear coat remains on the surface prior to this process. For more information visit www.shurhold.com. WAXING WITH POLISHER The benefits of applying wax by machine include speed, even coverage, less waste, ease of application, ease of removal and brighter shine. Using the pattern described on the opposite page, apply wax at a speed of 1 or 2 in a thin layer for an easily buffed surface and high-gloss shine.
  • Page 8 Although you may use wax, Shurhold recommends that a polish, such as Shurhold’s Pro Polish, be used for the most significant improvement in the surface’s appearance. Pro Polish is a paint and fiberglass/ gel coat cleaner, sealant and polish with UV inhibitors that produces an ultra high gloss finish in one easy step. Formu- lated with cosmetic grade ingredients, it contains no fillers or talc, protecting your finish against sun, salt, acid rain and other harsh environmental elements. Be sure to use a separate pad for each compound. Avoid using different compounds on the same pad. A plastic baggie is a good storage source for pads to be used again after proper cleaning of pad. Be sure to work in an environment with good lighting, such as fluorescent or halogen. Direct sunlight should be avoided. For best results, use Shurhold’s Pro Polish and follow these steps: STEP 1 Choose the pad for the job, we recommend Shurhold’s Pro Polish black foam pad. STEP 2 Apply Pro Polish to the pad. STEP 3 Apply Pro Polish evenly on the surface to be polished. Dabbing over the entire surface is ideal, too much compound in one area will cause it to fling off the pad. Using the tool in the off position, dab the pad against a small work area to distribute the polish. STEP 4 Be sure Polisher is off. Turn speed dial to a speed of 1 or 2. Hold pad against surface to be polished, and switch Polisher on. Once the polish has absorbed into the pad, the Polisher can be used at a higher speed such as 3 or 4. • Page 9 TIPS FROM THE PROS STEP 5 To work the polish into the surface, increase the Polisher’s speed to 3 or 4. Hold pad flat against surface, and slowly move the pad in the pattern shown below. Overlap each pass halfway, while polishing up and down, then left to right. STEP 6 Once you’ve polished enough that only a thin layer of polish remains, you may stop. Check to see you’ve covered all the areas necessary. The remainder of the polish can be removed with a microfiber towel. BEGIN HERE www.shurhold.com...
