CARROTS AND OTHER FIRM VEGETABLES
1. Feed carrots and other firm vegetables,
such as potatoes and cucumbers, with the
finger tips, anchoring the thumb and little
finger on the sides of the hopper. Don't
feed with thumbs, palm of hand or
"baseball bat grip." Always use fresh, crisp
foods.
QUARTER CABBAGE
1. Quarter cabbage and turn leaf side to
cutter. Again, feed with the finger tips.
CELERY STALK
1. Run celery stalk through the No. 1
Shredder for the fine cut or No. 2 Shredder
for medium cut. Celery is cut and "peeled"
in one easy operation.
FRUITS/VEGETABLES WITH TOUGH PEELING
1. Use the No. 2 Stringer for peeling and fruit
or vegetables that has a tough peeling,
such as pumpkin, avocados, melons,
apples, pears and even peaches. Always
place the peeling side next to the hopper –
not the cutter.
SOFT FOODS
1. When cutting soft foods such as hard
boiled eggs, hold hand next to hopper and
gently press egg against cutter while
turning crank slowly.
BAKED GOODS
1. Fill hopper with 10 to 12 graham crackers
on their edges and pull into shredder with
hand. Use this same method for dry bread
or cookies.
