1. For protection wear gloves and safety glasses.
2. Keep hand tools in good condition, sharpen cutting edges and make sure tool handles are secure.
3. Always maintain the minimum air space required to the enclosure to prevent fi res.
WARNING
!
Carefully follow the instructions for assembly of the chimney and other
parts needed to install this fi replace. Failure to do so may result in a fi re,
especially if combustibles are too close to the fi replace or chimney and
air spaces are blocked, preventing the free movement of cooling air.

LOCATION AND CLEARANCES

Do not build shelves or cupboards into the area above
the fi replace.
While the fi replace can be installed directly on the fl oor, a non-
combustible hearth extension is required in front of the fi replace,
that must not be built higher than the bottom of the fi replace to
avoid air fl ow blockage. It may therefore be advisable to build the
fi replace on a raised platform. The minimum distance between the
edge of the fi replace and any adjacent wall, at right angles to it, is
21". A wall projecting at 45° from the outer edge of the fi replace is
allowed; projections into this area are permitted. Do not install into
any area having a height less than 6 feet (ceiling to fi replace base,
excluding hearth height). See Section on Framing. The location of
windows, doors and the traffi c fl ow in the room where the stove is
to be located should be considered. If possible, you should choose
a location where the chimney will pass through the house without
cutting a fl oor or roof joist.

FRAMING

NOTE: In order to avoid the possibil-
ity of exposed insulation or vapour
barrier coming in contact with the
fi replace body, it is recommended
that the walls of the fireplace
enclosure be "fi nished"
(i.e.: drywall/sheetrock),
as you would fi nish any
other outside wall of a
home. This will ensure
that clearance to com-
bustibles is maintained
within the cavity.
