• Install the exhaust vent (terminal) so that there are no obstacles around the termination and so that exhaust can't accumulate. Do not enclose the termination with corrugated metal or other materials. • Model N-0631S-OD, N-0531S-OD is for outdoor installation only. Never install it indoors. Water Treatment If this water heater will be installed in an application where the supply water is hard, the water must be treated with either a water softener, which removes the hardness, or by using sequestering agents, such as the Noritz Scale Shield, that reduce the amount of scale deposits. Refer to the below tables for sug- gested treatment and maintenance measures to be taken based on the water hardness level.

Install the remote controller according to the instructions in the Installation Guide (p. 28). • The N-0631S can be programmed so that it will default to one of three temperatures (60°C, 55°C, 50°C (140°F, 130°F, 122°F)) when the temperature selection wire is not connected. To change the default temperature, connect the temperature selection wire as shown in the below diagram.
