    Using the Lock Screen The Lock screen is displayed whenever your device is locked. You can lock your device to prevent accidental button or touchscreen presses when the device is in your bag or pocket. Locking Your Device Your device automatically locks when your device is password protected, and the set idle time has elapsed. Your device locks itself and requires the correct password entry to unlock it.

    Receiving a Call When the Device Is Locked You can receive and answer calls even when your device is locked. For more information about answering calls, see “Answering and Ending Calls” on page 66. After you end the call, your device remains locked and the Lock screen is displayed. You need to unlock to use your device.

    Using the Phone Keypad The Phone Keypad is an onscreen keypad that has a layout similar to mobile phone keypads, plus some additional keys. The Phone keypad has large keys and enhanced input features such as predictive text input, which make it faster for you to enter text in your messages and documents. Tap the keys to enter letters or symbols.

    Using Predictive Mode is a predictive text input mode that displays a word candidate list as you enter the first few characters so you select just the word that you want.   • Page 44 Navigating the Home Screen in Landscape Mode The Home screen tabs are always displayed when the Home screen is in portrait view. When you slide out the QWERTY keyboard, the Home screen automatically changes to landscape view and temporarily hides the tabs.

    Home The Home tab displays the current date, a flip-style digital clock, weather for your current location, and an alarm icon that indicates whether the alarm is on or off. Missed calls, voicemails, and your upcoming calendar appointments are also shown on the Home tab. You can also personalize the Home tab with your own wallpaper and add quick links to your favorite programs, contacts, and websites.

    Updating Weather Information Your device can determine your current location and display your local time and weather conditions on the weather clock.     Tips • You can rearrange or remove cities on the World Clock screen. Tap Menu > Rearrange Cities and then drag them to the order that you want. Changing the Date and Time If you want to change the date shown on the Home tab, tap the date and then choose another date.

    People On the People tab, you can add favorite contacts and quickly make calls or send text and email messages to these contacts. From the People tab, you can also set up your own contact card, create new contacts, view your stored contacts list, as well as view exchanged calls and text, multimedia and email messages with a contact.

    Creating New Contacts From the People tab, you can easily create and store the contact details of the people and businesses that you communicate with. On the People tab, tap All People .     Contact Groups By organizing contacts into groups, sending messages to several contacts is a lot easier. Using groups to categorize contacts is also a way of filtering the contacts list so that browsing and finding contacts can be faster and easier. To create a contact group Create a group of contacts so you can easily send a text or multimedia message to the group without having to add the addressed contacts to your message one by one.

    Mail The Mail tab is where you send and receive email messages. Including Outlook Email, you can add up to seven POP3/IMAP4 and Web-based email accounts in this tab. Checking and Reading Email The icon on the Mail tab and the respective icons of your email accounts show the number of newly received or unread email messages.

    Messages Quickly browse through and read text messages as they arrive directly from the Messages tab. This tab also displays received multimedia messages. An attachment icon is shown to indicate that a received message is a multimedia message. You only see the subject of the multimedia message. Tap the text message to open the Messages tab of the Contact Details screen where you can view all received text messages from the contact and reply to the sender.

    Calendar Keep track of your important appointments and events with the calendar. The Calendar tab displays a monthly calendar with markers to inform you of the dates that you have appointments and events. You can also change the tab to display in day, week, year, or agenda view.     Photos and Videos The Photos & Videos tab lets you flip through your photos and video clips and view them full-screen. From this tab, you can also launch the camera so you can take pictures and record video clips. To flip through photos and videos, swipe your finger up or down the screen. Tap the photo or video on the screen to view or play it full-screen.

    Sprint Music The Sprint Music tab allows you to visually browse through albums and music tracks that are on your device and play music. The albums and music tracks that you see on this tab are from the Now Playing list of the Library.

    Shows whether shuffle mode is on or off. Shows the repeat mode (Repeat All, Repeat One, or Repeat Off). To advance forward or backward in the music: Touch and hold on the thin bar below the album art to display the progress bar: Drag your finger right or left on the progress bar to move forward or backward in the current music track.

    To create a new playlist: On the Sprint Music tab, tap Library . Tap or slide to the Playlists tab. Tap Menu > New , enter a playlist name, and then tap Done .     Sprint TV On the Sprint TV tab, you can watch live TV and catch up on episodes of your favorite shows – anywhere on the Nationwide Sprint Network. If this is your first time to use Sprint TV, tap the center image to connect to Sprint data services using the data connection and download channels.

    Weather Your device automatically connects to the Internet to download weather information. On the Weather tab, it displays the weather information of your current location and other preselected cities. The current day’s weather as well as the weather conditions for the next four days of the week are displayed. Swipe your finger up or down the screen to view the weather in other cities.

    To change the download time, tap the box that shows the preset time and then choose another time interval. Clear this option if you prefer to manually download weather information. .     Tap Menu to add, delete or rearrange the stock quotes and market indexes. (When rearranging the list, drag items up or down the list to change their order.)     Viewing Tweets On the Home screen’s Twitter tab, you can see tweets of the people that you follow and your sent tweets, starting with the most recent. You can preconfigure the country where you are calling from and the country to call to, and then simply enter the 10-digit number when placing your international call.

    Making Calls from the Home Screen You can add favorite contacts to the Home screen’s People tab and easily place calls to your favorite contacts.
