Advanced Configuration

To perform more advanced network configurations such as VLAN, DHCP server, mount-
ing various media devices, such as USB sticks, or configuring VPN clients, you must log
in at the operating system level. You can do this by using the SSH protocol that various
products in the market are using (note that instead of the standard SSH port, some of
the devices may be using port number 8722). You will find that the system is running a
Debian distribution, for which you can find excellent documentation at debian.org. The
IP configuration from the web interface overwrites the configuration files for the operat-
ing system, so once you start the process of manually editing the network configuration,
the web interface should no longer be used for this task.

Additional Languages

Additional languages can be installed on the PBX by using the software update feature
of the PBX (language prompts are available for download from the Release Corner at
wiki.snomone.com). Downloading an additional language will not affect the PBX con-
figuration or the software version. However, we do recommend that you keep an eye on
the available system space on the status screen of the PBX, as the built-in flash memory
has limited capacity.

More Information

For more information on how to use the snom ONE product, please see the general
documentation at wiki.snomone.com available in various languages.
Differences between the standard snom ONE edition and the snom ONE mini edition
include (1) the need for a static IP address on the mini and (2) an additional menu tab
(System) which includes the IP setup dialog. The System tab also allows for general-
purpose system management, including the option to back up and restore the configura-
tion, perform a software update from the web interface, request a pre-configured con-
figuration (e.g., from a managed PBX service provider), and schedule a reboot. These
items are described in the standard documentation for snom ONE.
