Problem
Can't reset the factory
default settings because
there is no back battery.
Unable to synchronize
through USB port.
Unable to locate files in
CompactFlash memory in
applications.
Data is lost.
Diagnosis /Remedy
Refer to the Resetting your HP Jornada
section in chapter 9. Note that all data in
device memory will be erased.
Wrong version of Microsoft ActiveSync
installed on desktop PC. Ensure that you
have installed the version ActiveSync
included with your HP Jornada 540 Series
Pocket PC.
–or–
The USB connection is not enabled on your
HP Jornada. On the Start menu, tap
Settings. On the Connections tab, tap the
PC icon, and then select USB connection
from the drop-down list.
–or–
The USB connection is not enabled in
ActiveSync on your desktop PC. In
ActiveSync, on the Tools menu, click
Connection Settings, and then select the
Allow USB connection with this desktop
computer check box.
Files must be stored in the My Documents
folder on the CompactFlash card. Create the
My Documents folder using File Explorer,
and move file into this folder.
HP Jornada has run out of power. Restore
data from a backup file on your desktop PC
or a CompactFlash card.

Factory default settings have been restored.
