  • Page 2 Fill in and retain! The vacuum cleaner you have just purchased is a combination cleaner. It has a motorized power nozzle for carpet and floor cleaning and tools for other tasks. The model and serial number appear on the bottom of the cleaner.

    1. Connect hose Insert hose end with cord into opening of cleaner, lining up largest projection on hose with largest notch of opening. Turn hose to the right to tighten. When hose is attached properly, hose cord plug will reach to receptacle on cleaner.
  • Page 7 Attach second wand to the first. Position cord into cord clips on wands, placing excess cord between nozzle and bottom cord clip. To attach hose to wands, rotate plastic latch ring on hand grip until slots in opening align. Push hand grip over wand so that button projection fits into slot.

    Power nozzle The power nozzle adjusts automatically for cleaning hard surface floors and various heights of carpet. The agitator may be turned off by unplugging power nozzle cord from hand grip when cleaning irregular floor sutfaces such as brick, slate, and certain parquet floors. This will stop the agitator from rotating.

    The Wall/Floor Brush, also shown, is available at a nominal cost from your Authorized Hoover Dealer, a Hoover Factory Service Center or by writing to The Hoover Company, North Canton, Ohio 44720. Adjust the suction regulator to select the amount of suction appropriate to the cleaning task.

    To connect and remove tools To connect tools, insert end of tool into extension wand and snap into position. To disconnect, press down on the center of the spring latch and remove tool. Tools may be attached to hand grip by rotating plastic latch ring until the slots in the opening align.

    Remove larger items from carpet and floor surfaces before vacuuming to help prevent obstructions in the hose, wands or nozzle connector, and maintain the cleaning effectiveness of your cleaner. To check for obstructions, first turn cleaner off and disconnect from electrical outlet; then dis- connect power nozzle plug and wands from hand grip.

    There are other belts manufactured that are similar in shape and size but are not designed for the HOOVER power nozzle. Such belts do not operate the agitator correctly and may create stress which could damage your power nozzle.
  • Page 15 Place new belt on motor pulley, with lettering on outside of belt. Then slip agitator through belt, positioning belt on agitator pulley. Position round projection on opposite end of agitator into opening in wall of nozzle base. Push agitator slightly to the left, pull forward, and press it down into nozzle base.
  • Page 16 Maintain front connection, while rotating cover over nozzle base. Pull nozzle cord through opening in cover. Turn nozzle over and replace screws.   • Page 17 BAR/BRUSH END SECTION 2. Pull or pry out end sections as shown in illustration. Note: Pulley end should be removed by pulling straight out. 3. Pull bar/brush assemblies from agitator slots, using pliers if necessary. The word “BAR” is stamped near the slots on the agitator.

    For service under warranty, follow the instructions in the warranty provided with this product. Do not send your cleaner to The Hoover Company in North Canton for service as this will only result in delay. Always identify your cleaner by the complete model number when requesting information or ordering replacement parts.
  • Page 19: Energy Saving Tips

    Therefore, do not add lubricant to either motor bearing. The agitator is equipped with two ball bearings that should be lubricated periodically. This should be done by a Hoover Factory Service Center or an Authorized Hoover Warranty Service Dealer.
