Questions and answers
how do we calibrate oven temperature
To calibrate the oven temperature for Seaward SERIES, follow these steps:
1. Turn the oven control knob to the "Pilot On" position and light the constant pilot in the oven.
2. Set the oven temperature control knob to the desired temperature (e.g., 350°F).
3. The constant pilot will grow in size, becoming the heater pilot, which heats the sensing bulb of the mercury control valve.
4. After 30–60 seconds, once the sensing bulb reaches the required temperature, the mercury control valve opens, allowing gas to flow to the main burner, which then ignites.
5. When the oven reaches the set temperature, the thermostat stops gas to the heater pilot, returning it to a constant pilot. The sensing bulb cools, the mercury valve closes, and the main burner turns off.
6. The cycle repeats when more heat is needed.
This process ensures the oven cycles to maintain the selected temperature.
