Firewire and USB cables are both plugged in, both drive and hub functions will work properly. 1.3.3 LED Indicator The Newer Technology miniStack Classic has a single LED at the front of the hard drive enclosure. It will illuminate when powered on.

Chapter 2 - System Setup 2 SYSTEM SETUP This guide will get you up and running quickly, demonstrating how to install your own drive into the Newer Technology miniStack Classic enclosure. Your computer is a static-sensitive device. It is susceptible to invisible damage if not protected during installation.
➁ Lift the top cover off of the bottom enclosure of the miniStack Classic. This can be a bit challenging, as there are a number of concealed clips that help secure the top cover onto the bottom enclosure.

➂ Untape the plastic bag with assembly screws from the inner chassis. ➃ Make sure that the hard drive you wish to install (sold separately) is handy and remove the screws from the bag.

➄ ➙ Place your drive into the chassis of the miniStack Classic. There are 2 mounting tabs with screwholes on the side furthest away from you in this photograph, and one screw post on the side closest to you. Slide your drive into the SATA socket on the green circuit board.

➆ Turn the miniStack Classic around and insert the 2 small Phillips screws into the back of the enclosure to complete the assembly. ➇ The assembly of your miniStack Classic is complete. Remove the clear plastic overlay from the top cover.
Select the device with no volumes attached to it; in this picture, that would be the 1 TB miniStack Classic device. Click on the drive icon next to the text. If your miniStack was previously formatted, there will be a volume already attached to the device in the red circle above.

Additionally, FAT32 only works with hard drives that have a capacity of 2.2TB or less. Q: Can I charge my iPad using the built in hub in the miniStack Classic? A: No, the iPad draws too much power.
