Questions and answers
The pull cord comes out about 1 ft only and suddenly stops with resistance.
The pull cord on a Homelite HGCA3000 Series generator may only extend 1 foot and then stop with resistance due to engine compression or a mechanical obstruction. Possible causes include:
- The engine is under compression and needs the decompression valve (such as the choke or air intake system) to be properly set.
- Internal engine damage or a seized engine.
- The recoil starter mechanism may be damaged or jammed.
- Something is obstructing the engine's flywheel or crankshaft.
Check that the engine switch and choke lever are correctly positioned, ensure the unit is on a level surface, and inspect for any mechanical blockage.
