Symptom
An error occurs when
writing data.
A problem occurs when the
PC boots, or the writing
software does not operate
properly.
A writing software other
than that supplied with the
drive is installed, but does
not work.
Problems arise after having
operated normally for a
while.
Cause/Remedy
t If the writing speed is set very low, change to a higher
speed. Depending on the disc media being used, faster
writing speeds may work best. Changing the writing speed
is done by the writing software. If the PC has a slow CPU,
the writing speed may also have to be slow.
t Disable the PC's screen saver. If the screen saver activates
while writing data, the data transfer may become too slow,
resulting in data writing errors.
t Close all programs except the writing software.
t Close any resident hard disk utilities and disk speed-up
utilities.
t In some cases, file fragmentation on the hard disk can
cause problems. Defrag the hard disk with the Windows
defrag program found under Accessories - System Tools or
another suitable program.
t If the writing software supplied with the CRX160E is
installed on a PC that already has a packet-writing software
such as CDRFS, the software may not operate correctly.
Try uninstalling the other program before installing the
supplied software. Note that some PCs may come with
CDRFS preinstalled.
t The writing software may be incompatible with the
CRX160E. Please contact the supplier of the writing
software.
t The installed version of the writing software may be
incompatible with the CRX160E. Please contact the
supplier of the writing software.
You may be able to upgrade the writing software to be
compatible with the CRX160E.
t If operation becomes unstable after installing a program,
uninstall it and try again. If the symptoms are eliminated,
avoid installing and using the new program.
