Replacing the hard disk drive

Attention:
Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Important safety information"
on page 1.
This section provides instructions on how to replace the hard disk drive.
To replace the hard disk drive, do the following:
1. Turn off the computer and disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 77.
3. Locate the hard disk drive. See "Locating FRUs and CRUs" on page 69.
4. Remove the hard disk drive bracket from the computer. See "Replacing the hard disk drive bracket" on
page 107.
5. Remove the four screws
completely remove the hard disk drive.

6. Align the screw holes in the new hard disk drive with the corresponding holes in the hard disk drive
bracket and then install the four screws to secure the new hard disk drive.
7. Reinstall the hard disk drive bracket into the computer. See "Replacing the hard disk drive bracket" on
page 107.
