The HDMI interface is designed to automatically configure the audio output for a
format supported by the television or monitor attached to the DVR through the HDMI
connection. This automatic configuration is only performed the first time the DVR is
connected through the HDMI interface to a compatible TV. When the automated
process is finished, the DVR sets the audio output format to either Dolby
Other (Linear PCM). The selected format is provided to all digital outputs. As a result,
in cases where the TV does not support Dolby Digital decoding, you may want to
override the automatic setting in order to provide Dolby-formatted content to a Home
Theater Receiver connected to the digital output on the DVR. In addition, if the DVR
is connected to a different TV you may need to manually set the output to a format
that the new TV supports.
To override the automatic configuration or to change the audio output format used
on the HDMI interface, complete the following steps:
1. Press twice. The General Settings menu appears.
2. Press or to select Audio: Digital Out.
