Troubleshooting chart

There is fuel.
1. Fuel
Check if there is
fuel in the fuel Some fuel.
tank.
No fuel.
2. Compression
Use electric starter
to see if there is
compression.
3. Ignition
Remove plug and
check electrodes.
4. Battery
Use electric
starter.
Remove the
fuel hose from
the fuel cock.
Turn the fuel
cock to "OFF".
Turn the fuel
cock to "RES".
Supply fuel.
There is compresson.
No compression.
Wipe clean with dry
Wet
cloth.
Attach plug cap and
Dry
ground to chassis.
Engine turns
Battery good.
over quickly.
Engine turns Check fluid, recharge,
over slowly. check connections.
Water or dirt
mixed in fuel.
Turn the fuel
Check fuel flow.
cock to "ON".
Restart engine.
Compression normal.
Ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect.
Use electric
starter.
Ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect.

Clean the fuel filter and
the fuel tank.
No fuel.
Spark good. Ignition system normal.
Spark weak.
Adjust plug gap or
No spark.
replace plug.
Fuel cock clogged.
Clean fuel cock.
