About the external hard disk
drive
The hard disk drive (HDD) is a fragile piece of
equipment. Please use the player following the
guidelines below to protect against possible HDD
failure.
y Do not move the player while it is on.
y Do not use the damaged HDD. Product can be
damaged.
y Install and use a recorder on a stable, level
surface.
y Do not use the recorder in excessively hot or
humid places, or in places that may be subject
to sudden changes in temperature. Sudden
changes in temperature can cause condensation
to form inside the recorder. This can be a cause
of HDD failure.
y While the recorder is switched on, do not unplug
from the wall socket or switch the electricity off
from the breaker switch.
y Do not move the recorder immediately after
switching it off. If you need to move the recorder,
please follow the steps below:
1. After the message "OFF" is shown in the
display, wait at least two minutes.
2. Unplug from the wall socket.
3. Move the player.
y If there's a power failure while the recorder is on,
there is a chance that some data on the HDD will
be lost.
y The HDD is very delicate. If used improperly or
in an unsuitable environment, it is possible that
the HDD will fail after a few years of use. Signs
of problems include playback unexpectedly
freezing and noticeable block noise (mosaic) in
the picture.
However, sometimes there will be no warning
signs of HDD failure.
y If the HDD fails, playback of recorded material
will not be possible. In this case it will be
necessary to replace the HDD.
y The manufacturer disclaims responsibility for loss
of data contained in HDD.
y It is strongly recommended to use SATA standard
HDD of makers as below for the HDD.
(Seagate, Western Digital, Hitachi, Samsung)
y While operating this recorder, do not detach
HDD. It may cause a serious defect to this
recorder.
y Maximum capacity of HDD is limited to 1TB.
y The HDD capacity displayed on your TV screen
may not exactly same with the capacity printed
on your HDD.
y If is recommended to use external HDD with one
partition.

Caution
y HDD partition does not support more than
four. If the partition is divided into four or
more, it does not work.
y HDD partition divided with extended
partition only, can be abnormal.
y During the recording, if you plug off USB
external HDD by force, if can cause a serious
problem on hard disk drive.
y If you separate the external HDD during
the recording, The set does not shut down
normally, It can be harmful to the HDD, Also
you can not enjoy the recordings in the
recording list.

Note
y A recording features is only supported on
first primary partition and it must be 4KB
block NTFS format.
y 100GB or more of free space is
recommended.
y Connection between the Set and an
external hard disk must be connected
directly.
If you connect external hard disk and set
with a separate USB HUB, In this case, It is
not supported.
y If you edit or delete contents recorded on
an external HDD from another PC, It can be
deleted but cannot be played in Recordings
list.
y External HDD supported USB 2.0
y HDD using a separate external power
supply should be connected to power.
y A recording feature needs system folder that
is named "REC", and it is unable to browse
by user.
