MAINTENANCE

Maintenance Schedule

Periodic maintenance and adjustment are necessary to keep the generator in good operating condition. Perform service and
inspection at intervals shown in Generator Maintenance Schedule (see Table 2).
Using a generator indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES.
Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide. This is a
poison you cannot see or smell.
NEVER use inside a home
or garage, EVEN IF doors
and windows are open.
• Shut off engine before performing any maintenance.
If engine must be run, be sure area is well ventilated.
NOTICE
Maintenance, replacement, or repair of the emission
control devices and systems may be performed by any
non-road engine repair establishment or individual.

Inspect for/clean debris
Check engine oil level
Change engine oil
Check air filter
Clean air filter
Replace air filter
Run engine
Check/adjust spark plug
Replace spark plug
Clean fuel sediment cup
Clean spark arrestor
Clean cylinder cooling fins
Check/adjust idle speed
Check/adjust valve clearance
Clean combustion chamber
Check fuel tube

* Perform at every indicated month or operating hour interval, whichever comes first.
† Clean more often when using generator in dusty areas.
‡ It is recommended that the generator is run for 30-60 minutes every three months to ensure the battery remains charged.
If the unit is stored for more than a year without running, a battery charger may necessary to recharge the generator battery.
** These items should be serviced by a Honda service dealer, unless you have the proper tools and are mechanically proficient. Refer to
the Honda shop manual for service procedures.

Accidental starting of generator can cause severe injury or
death. Before performing maintenance, disconnect spark
plug cap from spark plug. Also disconnect both starting bat-
tery cables. Remove the negative (-) cable first to reduce the
risk of arcing.
Improper maintenance, or failure to correct a problem before
operation, can cause a malfunction in which you can be seri-
ously hurt or killed. Always follow inspection and mainte-
nance recommendations and schedules in this owner's
manual.
The maintenance schedule applies to normal operating con-
ditions. If you operate generator under severe conditions,
such as sustained high-load or high-temperature, or use it in
unusually wet or dusty conditions, consult your servicing
dealer for recommendations applicable to your individual
needs and use.
