GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Remove the fire from the packing, checking that neither the fire nor the power cable has been damaged during transport. Do not operate the heater if
damaged. The accessories are found in a box that is packed at the side of the fire.
INSTALLATION OF THE FIRE
IMPORTANT: Access must be allowed for, so that the fire can be serviced. This involves the fire being moved forward in order to access the
rear and top. The mains cable must therefore be long enough to allow this. Please also note the warnings at the back of these instructions.
The fire must be positioned so that the plug socket is accessible once the fire has been installed.
depth
The inset dimensions are:
To prevent the fire from being pulled over it must be secured into place. In the instruction pack there will be two sets of four screws. The 20mm cross
head self-tapers are for securing the fire into fireplace suite (1). The 20mm flat head screws and black rubber expansion nuts are for securing into a
standard fireplace either through marble or directly into a wall (2).
1.
When fitting the fire into a fireplace suite, place the fire centrally into the hole and mark off through and at the
where on the back panel the screws are to go in. You may either screw the self- tapers directly into the MDF back panel or use a 2.5mm drill
bit to start the hole. We recommend you drill no deeper than approx. 5mm.
2.
If fitting into a standard fireplace, place the fire evenly into the hole and mark off through and at the
decorative back panel the holes are required. A 9.5mm hole is required and we recommend the use of a 2.5mm drill bit as a pilot hole.
Remove the fire and drill the 9.5mm holes. Push the expansion nuts into each hole.
You may either place the fire back into the hole and secure into place using the screws provided
they are approx. 3mm away from the back panel using the keyhole slots with each of the four screw heads and carefully push the fire down and
into place. Tighten each screw to finish.
Where the inset fire is being used in an existing chimney, it is important that the chimney is blocked off to prevent airflow problems with the fire. Where a
chimney is not blocked off sufficiently it may cause the heater to cut out and the flame effect to stop or work poorly.
Electrical connections
Your appliance comes fitted with a plug that incorporates a 13A fuse. The replacement fuses must be 13A and ASTA approved. If the fuse cover is lost
the plug must not be used until a replacement cover, of the same colour, is obtained an electrical retailer.
The appliance is fitted with a moulded plug if it is necessary cut off the plug, for any reason, it must be discarded immediately with the fuse removed.
Under no circumstances should any attempt be made to reuse the plug, do not insert into any 13A socket as this could cause a hazard.
WARNING THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code.
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the colour markings in your plug proceed as follows: -
The wire which is coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E, or coloured
green or coloured green and yellow, or marked with the earth symbol
The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter N, or coloured black.
The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter L, or coloured red.
If the mains cable is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised technical service centre.
Pebbles
Once the fire has been installed in the correct position unpack the pebbles from the accessory box. Add the desired amount of pebbles simply
placing them on the tray around the curved screen. The pebbles are natural and therefore there will be variation of size and shape.
OPERATING THE FIRE
Controls
All of the controls are located behind the front door of the fire. You may open the door by placing your hand behind the top left hand side of the
frame and pulling. The door will swing open from left to right. The fire can be activated either by the remote or manual on/off switch. When the
switch is pressed to the fully up standby position, the remote will turn the fire on illuminating the flame effect with no heat. For manual
illumination press the switch fully down. In the middle, the fire is completely off. The remote will not work if the fire is turned on manually.
The wheel next to the on/off switch is the dimmer; you may turn this to set the light to your desired brightness. For heating the fire must be
switched on. The controls for the heat are located at the bottom right hand side of the fire. These consist of an on/off switch for the fan and a
thermostat. To obtain heat, press down the switch with the red bar and turn the thermostat to maximum. Once the required room temperature is
achieved turn the thermostat towards minimum until you hear a click. The thermostat will then regulate the room temperature automatically.
Thermostat information: There can be up to a 5 or 6 degrees drop or rise in temperature for the thermostat to activate or deactivate.
The temperature is taken from around the fire, unlike a room thermostat that is usually positioned on a wall in the middle of a room.
So please allow for inaccuracies. Other situations such as room size or position of fireplace i.e. near a working radiator might cause
the thermostat not to work efficiently.
