    To help you find a free FM frequency Highway features quickSCAN to automatically scan to the next free FM frequency at the touch of a button, and there’s also four FM transmit presets for easy access. Highway can pause DAB radio for a short period, or even skip back through live DAB radio in ten second intervals to catch any traffic reports or news bulletins you may have missed.

    Overview of controls, connectors and display In-Car controls at a glance [Tune] Press the centre button to switch the unit on. Press for two seconds and release to switch the unit off. Rotate the dial to scroll through the station list and push the centre button to tune to a station.

    Connect Highway to your car stereo’s line-in connector (if available). Remove unit from car, disconnect power cable and connect headphones to activate Handheld mode and use Highway as a personal DAB radio. Connect the supplied windscreen aerial. [Lock] Push down to lock the controls.

    If you hear interference when listening to Highway you can change the FM frequency Searching... > that Highway is transmitting on and then re-tune your car radio to the new frequency. To quick scan to the next free FM transmission frequency 88.30MHz 1.

    To listen to a radio station again Disconnect your iPod, MP3 or CD player from the ‘LINE IN’ socket on Highway to return to listening to DAB. It is not possible to switch back to DAB without disconnecting the lead from the ‘LINE IN’ socket.

    Using Highway as a handheld DAB radio You can use Highway as a personal handheld DAB radio (the headphones work as the aerial). Firstly remove the unit from your vehicle and insert two ‘AA’ batteries into the rear compartment. Note that in handheld mode the unit does not transmit on FM.

    Change options and settings Press the [Menu] button to access the following setup options and use the [Tune] dial to select options and adjust values. Autotune Select ‘Autotune’ to search for all DAB stations you can receive, add any new stations to the list and group inactive stations (preceded by ‘?’) at the bottom of the station list.

    The DAB signal will weaken in a tunnel, causing the audio to fade down and ‘Station not available’ to appear. On exiting the tunnel, Highway will reacquire the station, gradually fading the audio back up again. You can switch off the ‘Fade on burble’ setting (page 15).
