4-2. Controls For 300DX Model

7
1
Power Switch
Fan motor is thermostatically controlled and
only runs when cooling is needed.
2
Voltmeter (see Section 4-3)
3
Ammeter (see Section 4-3)
4
V/A (Voltage/Amperage) Adjust Control
V/A Adjust control is for front panel
adjustment of voltage. Place Mode switch in
MIG position. Use control to adjust voltage
from 10 to 35 volts.
In MIG mode, a remote control provides full
range of voltage output regardless of V/A
Adjust control setting.
V/A Adjust control is for front panel
adjustment of amperage, place Mode switch
in any Stick or TIG position and use control to
adjust amperage from 5 to 400 amps.
In TIG and Stick modes, remote amperage is
a percent of V/A Adjust control setting (value
selected on V/A Adjust is maximum available
on remote).
For remote amperage or voltage control,
1

make connections to Remote 14 receptacle
(see Section 3-9).
5
V/A (Voltage/Amperage) Control
Control allows selection of either panel or
remote 14 for amperage or voltage control.
6
Mode Switch
The Mode switch setting determines both the
process and output On/Off control. Areas
highlighted in orange are a "contactor on"
position.
7
Arc Control
Control adjusts inductance for MIG welding.
Set Arc Control to desired wire type. Place
Mode switch in MIG position. Inductance
determines the "wetness" of the weld puddle.
As setting is increased (rotating Arc Control
clockwise),
"wetness"
increases. For best results, preset Arc
Control to the wire/electrode type. Then
either increase or decrease setting within
wire/electrode type scale to make any fine
adjustment to the welding arc.

Arc Control-CCW
Low Inductance
Weld Bead
When one of the TIG modes is selected, this
control is not functional.
Control adjusts Dig when Stick mode is
selected on mode switch. Set Arc Control to
desired electrode type. For best results,
preset Arc Control in middle of the scale for
appropriate electrode type. Then either
increase or decrease setting within electrode
type scale to make any fine adjustment to the
welding arc.
