The .THM files created are becoming a nuisance. Is there a way to prevent creating them on my SD card?

I just received my Kodak AZ521. I put the battery in as instructed and plugged in to charge and it flicker the green light 2-3 times then flashed the red. I left the room and came back 1/2 hr later and now no light is showing. Does the red light shut off till fully charged then the green light will appear or is there a problem? I still have it plugged in the charger (camera)
