Clear CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) jumper
Used to clear CMOS and turn the BIOS settings into the factory default settings.
Note: Clearing CMOS does not erase your BIOS passwords.
A jumper is a short length of conductor used to set up or adjust a printed circuit board, such as the system
board of a computer. A jumper usually is encased in a non-conductive block of plastic for convenient use
and to avoid any possible damage to a live circuit. Jumper pins arranged in groups on the system board are
called jumper blocks. When two or more jumper pins are capped with a jumper, an electrical connection is
made between them and the equipment is thus instructed to activate certain settings accordingly.
To clear CMOS, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all
power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server.
2. Remove the server cover. See "Removing the server cover" on page 67.
3. Lay the server on its side for easier operation.
4. Locate the Clear CMOS jumper on the system board.
5. Move the Clear CMOS jumper from the default normal position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the short-circuited
position (pin 2 and pin 3).
6. Reconnect the server to an ac power source and turn on the server. Then, wait more than 10 seconds.
7. When you hear beeps, turn off the server. Then, move the Clear CMOS jumper back to the normal
position (pin 1 and pin 2).
8. Reinstall the server cover and connect the power cords. See "Completing the parts replacement" on
page 149.
9. Connect the server to an ac power source and turn on the server. The clearing CMOS process is
completed.

Management Engine (ME) disable jumper
Use this jumper to disable the ME.
To disable the ME, do the following:
4. Locate the ME disable jumper on the system board, and then ensure that the jumper is encased in a
non-conductive block of plastic.
5. Reinstall the server cover and connect the power cords. See "Completing the parts replacement" on
page 149.
6. Connect the server to an ac power source. Then, turn on the server. The ME has been disabled.
27
Serial connector
Used to provide an optional serial connector solution with a required cable.
28
PCI card slot (PCI slot 4)
Used to install a standard 32-bit 33-MHz PCI card with 167 mm (6.57 inches) in length.
