To clean up the items on a panel of the Home Screen, simply double-tap on any open area of the Home Screen.
You can also clean up a panel of the Home Screen by doing this:
1.
Press and hold on the wallpaper of the panel you want to clean up.
A pop-up menu appears.
2.

Your NOOK automatically arranges all the items in a grid.
Removing Items from a Home Screen Panel
You can also remove items from the Home Screen. When you remove an item from the Home Screen, it remains in
your Library but no longer appears on the Home Screen.
To remove an item, press and hold on it. When a pop-up menu appears, tap on the menu choice Remove from Home.
Opening an Item on the Home Screen or the Daily Shelf
To open a book, magazine, newspaper, or app on the Home Screen or the Daily Shelf, tap on its cover.
NOTE: If an item has not fully downloaded, yet, you will need to tap on the item twice: first to download the
item, and second to open it once it has downloaded. If an item has not fully downloaded, a Download
badge will appear on its cover.
You can also open a book or periodical by pressing and holding on its cover to open a pop-up menu, and then select-
ing the menu choice Read.

Using Media Shortcuts

Media Shortcuts are small icons that can optionally appear below the Daily Shelf. Tapping a Media Shortcut displays
a list of recently accessed items of that media type (for example, books), along with recommendations for similar
items in the NOOK Store. There are five shortcuts: books, newsstand, video, music, and apps. The video and music
shortcuts refer to video apps and music apps, respectively.
By default, your NOOK does not display Media Shortcuts. If you would prefer to display the shortcuts, tap the Set-
tings icon in the Quick Nav Bar, and tap the Home settings button. On the Home settings page, tap the checkbox
labeled Show Media Shortcuts. Leave the checkbox checked.
To hide Media Shortcuts, tap the Show Media Shortcuts checkbox again, and leave the checkbox unchecked.

Returning to the Home Screen

At any time you can return to the Home screen by doing one of the following:
Press the NOOK button. When the Quick Nav Menu appears at the bottom of the touchscreen, tap the Home
icon.
Press the NOOK button twice. (The NOOK button is the raised button in the shape of the NOOK logo on the
front of your NOOK).
NOTE: If you're in the middle of an activity such as playing a game or viewing a Kids Picture Book that uses the
entire screen, you'll need to press the NOOK button twice to return to the Home Screen. The first
time you press the NOOK button, your NOOK exits full-screen mode, and the second time it returns
you to the Home Screen.
