B. BEFORE LIGHTING smellall aroundtheappliance area
for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because
somegasis heavier thanair and will settle on thefloor.
WHAT TODOIF YOUSMELLGAS
• Do nottryto lightanyappliance.
• Do not touch any electric switch; do not use any
phoneinyourbuilding.
• Immediately call yourgassupplier from a neighbor's
phone.Followthegassupp,er'sInstructions.
• If you cannotreach your gas supplier,call the fire
department.
C. Useonlyyourhandto pushin or turnthe gascontrol
knob.Neverusetoots,if the knobwill not pushIn or
turnby hand,don'ttryto repairit, call a qualified ser-
vicetechnician. F orceor attempted repairmay result
in a fireor explosion.

2. Remove outerdoor.
3. Set the thermostat to lowest setting by turning the
watertemperature dialclockwise, ( (

5. Wait five (5) minutes to clearout any gas. If you then
smellgas, STOPI Follow"B" in the safetyinformation
aboveon this label. If you don't smell gas, go to the
nextstep.
6. Remove(or open) Inner door locatedbelowthe gas
controlunit.
7. Findpilot-follow metaltube fromgas control. T he pilot
is locatedonthe righthandsideof theburner.

8. If youdon'tsmellgas,turnknobongascontrol counter
clockwise_
to"PILOT"position. ( Figure7, page 17)
9. Push in control knob all the way and hold down.
Immediately lightthe pilotwith a match.Continue to
hold controlknob in for aboutone !1) minuteafter
the pilot is lit. Releaseknob and it will popback up.
Pilotshouldremainlit. If it goes out, repeatsteps3
through 8.
• if knob doesnot pop up whenreleased, s top and
immediately call yourservice technicianor gas
supplier.
• If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries,
depressand turnthe gascontratknobclockwise

12. At arms lengthaway,set the thermostatto desired

120°F is preferredstarting point. Some local laws

13.Replace theouterdoorif notreplaced in step10.
