  • Page 4 Preparing for Installation Carefully read Safety Notices on page 14. Remove all the components from the packaging, inspect them for shipping damage, then place them on an antistatic surface until you are ready to use them. If you are using new disk drives, allow them to acclimate to room temperature before installing them.

  • Page 7 Installing the Disk Drives Acclimate new disk drives to room temperature before you Caution install them. Before You Begin If you are combining SAS and SATA disk drives in the same SANbloc S50 enclosure, use the figures below to plan where you will be placing the disk drives.
  • Page 8 Unsupported Disk Drive Combinations Do not include SAS and SATA disk drives in the same column. Do not place a column of SATA disk drives between two columns of SAS disk drives. Installing the Disk Drives Install the disk drives from left to right across the enclosure. Note On the front of the enclosure, select an open drive slot.
  • Page 9 Gently push the lever until it meets the latch on the left side of the drive slot and clicks into place. Repeat for all remaining disk drives. To maintain proper airflow and cooling, a disk drive or a blank Note drive carrier must be installed in every slot of the enclosure.
