Frame the picture.
If a face is detected, it will be indicated by
a green border. If there is more than one
face in the frame, the camera will select the
face closest to the center; other faces are
indicated by white borders.

Focus.
Press the shutter button halfway
to set focus and exposure for
the subject in the green border.

Shoot.
Press the shutter button all the
way down to shoot.
Intelligent Face Detection
Intelligent Face Detection is
recommended when using the
self-timer for group portraits or
self-portraits (pg. 37).
When a picture taken with Intelligent Face Detection
is displayed, the camera can automatically select
faces for image search (pg. 68), slide shows (pg. 74),
cropping (pg. 76), red-eye removal (pg. 74), printing
(pg. 51), and zoom (continuous) (pg. 87).
