    First Steps Inserting the Battery and a Memory Card Insert the battery and memory card as described below. Q Before proceeding, confirm that the water-resistant seal is free of foreign matter as described on page xi. Open the battery-chamber cover. Keeping the safety lock pressed ( q ), rotate the latch ( w ) and open the battery- chamber cover ( e ).

    Inserting the Battery and a Memory Card ■ Compatible Memory Cards FUJIFILM and SanDisk SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards have been approved for use in the camera. A complete list of approved memory cards is available at http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/compatibility/. Operation is not guaranteed with other cards.

Please note that the repairer will be able to view pictures in internal memory. • Formatting a memory card or internal memory in the camera creates a folder in which pictures are stored.

    Charging the Battery The battery is not charged at shipment. Charge the battery before use. The camera charges the battery internally. The camera uses an NP-45S rechargeable battery. Attach the plug adapter to the AC power adapter. Attach the plug adapter as shown, making sure that it is fully inserted and clicks into place on the AC power adapter terminals.

    Shooting Mode ■ k HDR Each time the shutter button is pressed, the camera takes a series of shots, each with different exposure. These are combined into a single image, preserving detail in highlights and shadows. Choose for high-contrast scenes.     Shooting Mode ■ r MOTION PANORAMA 360 Follow an on-screen guide to take photos that will automatically be joined to form a panorama. The camera zooms all the way out and remains fixed at the widest angle until shooting is complete. To select the angle through which you will pan the camera while shooting, press the selector down.

    Printing Pictures via USB If the printer supports PictBridge, the camera can be connected directly to the printer as shown below and pictures can be printed without first being copied to a computer. Note that depending on the printer, not all the functions described below may be supported. Connect the USB cable as shown and turn the printer on.
