Loading the Battery Battery is required to operate the digital camera. At first, load the battery in the camera. Open the battery cover. CHECK Check that the camera is turned off before opening the battery cover. CAUTION • Do not open the battery cover while the camera is on.

Use the battery carefully to avoid overheating, igniting or exploding. If the battery is loaded incorrectly, contact a FUJIFILM dealer. Do not use excessive force to remove the battery from the camera.

A miniSD adaptor or microSD adaptor bigger than SD Memory Card standard size may become stuck. Pulling out forcefully may cause a malfunction. In that case, contact your FUJIFILM dealer. Turning On and Off Auto power off function When the Auto power off function is active, if the camera is left unused for 2 or 5 minutes, this function turns the camera off (➝p.110). To restore power to the camera to take pictures, briefly close the lens cover completely and then reopen it.

Setting Silent Mode Set Silent mode pressing and holding DISP/BACK. Use this mode for taking pictures in places where the use of flash and making an operation or shutter sound are restricted. Flash mode is set to suppressed flash and the operation sound, shutter sound, playback sound of movies or voice memo, self-timer lamp and illumination lamp are disabled.
Taking Pictures (AUTO Mode) This section describes the basic operations. Refer to p.51 for setting AUTO Mode. Turn the camera on. A Open the lens cover completely so that it will not move further. • Power-ON Select the folder. You can save images or movies in the folder by category.

Holding the camera correctly Brace your elbows against your sides and hold the camera with both hands. Do not cover the lens or flash with your fingers. CAUTION • Moving the camera while shooting gives a blurred picture (camera shake). Hold the camera steadily with both hands.

Flash When pressing the shutter button down halfway, b appears on the LCD monitor before the flash fires. Change the flash mode when you want to take pictures without flash. See p.60 for information on flash. CAUTION • The image shown on the LCD monitor before the picture is taken may differ in brightness, color, etc.
Taking Pictures (AUTO Mode) Using Intelligent Face Detection/ Red-eye Removal when taking pictures Intelligent Face Detection allows you to focus on and adjust the brightness of people’s faces. This camera will display still images recorded on FinePix Z200fd or still images (excluding some uncompressed images) recorded on any FUJIFILM digital camera that supports xD-Picture Cards or SD Memory Cards. Clear playback or playback zooming may not be possible for still images shot on cameras other than FinePix Z200fd.
Viewing the Images Playback of images in the folder Play back images saved in folders. This camera has 7 folders ([ MY PICTURES], [ TRAVEL], [ EVENTS], [ PRIVATE], [Y INTERNAL MEMORY]). You can play back other images in other folders during playback. You can also move or copy images between folders (➝p.47).

MEMO • The password function is only a lock function and you cannot encrypt it. • The [PRIVATE] folder can be played back with other cameras as a normal folder. Z Inputting password A 4-digit password is necessary to play back, move or copy images in the [PRIVATE] folder, if you set the password.

[SHOOTING MENU] MEMO When anything other than [s MANUAL] in the Photography mode is selected, only [AUTO] can be selected for the [ ISO] (sensitivity) setting. CAUTION Although higher sensitivity settings will allow you to take pictures in darker locations, they will also increase the amount of speckling in your images.
MEMO • The [ FinePix COLOR] setting is retained even when the camera is off or the mode setting is changed. • [p-CHROME] may have little visible effect with some subjects or the scene being shot. You may not be able to see any difference on the LCD monitor.

[SHOOTING MENU] MULTI] When pressing the shutter button down halfway, the camera recognizes any strongly contrasting subject near the center of the LCD monitor and displays the AF frame over subject in focus. CAUTION When taking pictures in Macro mode, the camera focuses on the center of the LCD monitor.
