ACTA. America s Carriers Telecommunications Association
Modem. A device for transmitting data over telephone wires by
modulating the data into an audio signal to send it and demodulating an
audio signal into data to receive it.
POTS. An acronym for Plain Old Telephone Service.
PPP. The Point-to-Point Protocol. This is a communications protocol that
was defined in RFC 1661, as the Internet standard for transmitting
network layer IP packets over serial point-to-point links.
