Re: Recall Campaign (4380-2137)
Volvo Penta/QL CT600, CT900 Bow Thrusters 12-Volt
and SP600, SP900 Stern Thrusters 12-Volt.
Dear Boat Owner:
This letter is intended to notify you of an important safety recall campaign involving the thruster on your
boat.
Recently, Volvo Penta become aware of several incidents where these thrusters have overheated
during operation. At least one incident resulted in an electrical fire onboard a boat.
To address these risks, Volvo Penta has started a safety recall to replace the thruster control box, to
check system installation and connections and to provide revised, detailed operating instructions for
use. New control boxes will be available soon. Please contact your Volvo Penta dealer to arrange for
this important service. The campaign is estimated to take approximately 1.5 hours, and the service will
be performed at no expense to you.
If service is delayed, the bow thruster or stern thrusters can be used safely by following the instructions
below:
Use thruster only in short bursts of time, not to exceed four (4) operating periods of 30
seconds each within a 25 minutes span of time.
When not in use, the make sure the main circuit breaker for the thruster is in the "off" position.
We apologize for this inconvenience,
and appreciate your cooperation.
Yours sincerely‚
