Modem (US and Canada only)

You can use the built-in modem for data transfer, fax communication and voice
communication.
Connecting the Modem to Telephone Line
1. Turn off your notebook.
2. Connect one end of the included modem cable to the modem jack on the right
side of your notebook.
3. Connect another end of the cable to the telephone line.
4. Turn on the notebook.

Connect the modem to the telephone line directly. Do not use a
distributor or allotter.
Setting the Modem in the Setup Utility
To use communication software:
1. Turn on your notebook.
2. Press the F2 key when the message Press <F2> to enter SETUP appears.
3. On the Advanced menu of the Setup Utility, set COM1/COM2 to MODEM/RS-
232, MODEM/IR or MODEM/Disabled. Namely, COM1 has to be set for the
modem.
