Elite 23 Installation Guide, Rev. A General description Elite 23 SCSI disc drives are high-speed, random-access digital- data storage devices. The drive is a component for installation in an enclosure designed for the drive. This is often a rack within the system or an external enclosure designed to house one or more disc drives or other peripheral units.

Elite 23 Installation Guide, Rev. A Providing adequate cooling The enclosure design must ensure adequate cooling for the drive. The maximum ambient temperature is 50 C. The drive’s product manual (83329140) describes how to evalu- ate the air-flow design. The evaluation consists of ensuring that the case temperature of certain critical components remains within acceptable limits during drive operation.
