Troubleshooting

Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think that there is
something wrong with this component, check the points below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in
another component. Investigate the other components and electrical appliances being used. If the
trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your nearest Pioneer
authorized independent service company to carry out repair work.
• If the unit does not operate normally due to external effects such as static electricity
disconnect the power plug from the outlet and insert again to return to normal operating
conditions.
Problem
The power does not turn on.
No sound is output when a
function is selected.
No image is output when a
function is selected.

Remedy
• Connect the power plug to the wall outlet.
• Disconnect the power plug from the outlet, and insert again.
• Make sure there are no loose strands of speaker wire touching the
rear panel. This could cause the receiver to shut off automatically.
• If the power shuts off automatically, take the unit to your
Pioneer authorized service center or your dealer for servicing.
• The unit may have been switched on using the wrong voltage setting.
Make sure you switch the VOLTAGE SELECTOR on the rear panel to
the right voltage for your country or region, then reset the unit
(page 81) before switching on again.
• Make sure the component is connected correctly (refer to
Connecting up on page 14).
• Press MUTE on the remote control to turn muting off.
• VSX-815/915 only – Press SPEAKERS to select the proper speaker set
(VSX-815 – see A and B speaker systems on page 23, VSX-915 – see
Switching the speaker system on page 71).
• Press SIGNAL SELECT to select the proper input signal (see
Choosing the input signal on page 40).
• Make sure the component is connected correctly (refer to
Connecting up on page 14).
• Select the correct component (use the input select buttons).
• VSX-815/915 only – Check Assigning the component video inputs on
page 75 to make sure you're assigned the correct input.
• The video input selected on the TV monitor is incorrect. Refer to the
instruction manual supplied with the TV.
