plug wireandmove wireawayfrom spark plug.Remove ignition key(elecb'ic startmodels).

CLEANING UNDERSIDE OF
MOWER DECK
Mowerbladesare sharp.
Whenworkingnear blades, wear heavy
leather gloves or wrap blades in thick
rags to protectyourselffrom the sharp
edges.
Frequentlycheck,and cleanif necessary,
the undersideof the mower deck. Grass
build-up in this area canaffect the cut-
ting performance.Beforeinspectingor
cleaning, makesurethat the engineis
shut off and the spark plug wire is
disconnectedfrom the spark plug.
Inspection/Cleaning of Mower Deck:
1. Stopengine,wait for all parts to
stopmoving,and disconnect s park
plug wire.
2. Tip mower on rear wheels by follow-
ing instructions "Tipping Mower For
Service"in this Section.
3. Usea plastic or metalscraper to
remove grass build-up from deck or
blades. If needed,spray with a garden
hose.
LUBRICATION
Oil and greasethe mower accordingto
the recommendationslisted in the
Lubrication Chart on the next page.
• Stopengine, waitfor all parts tostop
moving,and disconnect s parkplug
wire beforeperforminganylubrication
procedures.
• Thetransmission has beenfactory
sealedand requiresno lubrication. If a
leakshould develop,contact the factory
or your local authorizeddealerfor
serviceinformation.
OFF-SEASONSTORAGE
• Stopengine,wait for all partsto stop
moving,and disconnect s parkplug
wire beforeperformingany storage
procedures.Review thestoragesafety
rulesin the SafetySectionof this
Manual.
• If enginewill be unusedfor 30 days or
more, prepareit for storage byfollowing
the recommendedproceduresfound in
the EngineOwner's Manual.
• Inspectall parts for damage,breakage,
and wear. Tighten or replacefasteners.
Contactthe factory or your local
authorized dealerfor factory-approved
replacementparts.
• Cleanthe exterior of the mower thor-
oughlyand touch up all chipped or
scratched surfacesto prevent rust from
forming.
Never store machine with fuel in the
fuel tank insidea buildingwhere fumes
may reach an openflame or spark, or
where ignition sources are present
such as hot water and space heaters,
furnaces, clothes dryers, stoves, elec-
tric motors,etc.
